A Saturday Morning – Day 69
By Renee Bodkin
Saturday morning was a good one. Sebastian was scheduled to take the 7th grade practice test at Canisius High School. He’s considering going there for high school. It’s a great high school, though it’s also an expensive school. Decisions are difficult. So many variables to take into consideration. We are realistic — one step at a time. Test first.
Philip and I dropped him off. He was calm and confident. We had 3 hour to waste. We were in Buffalo and decided to go to the Broadway Market to explore. Neither of us had ever been to the Broadway Market. It was pretty neat. Lots of vendors and food. It was nice taking time – just the two of us – walking around and exploring this awesome place. We were grateful that it was not the weekend before Easter. It wasn’t crowded at all. We imagined what it would be like in just a few short weeks when loads of people would be there for Easter butter lambs, peirogis, meat, and bakery stuff. We did NOT buy anything though because Philip wouldn’t be able to eat it anyways so I thought it would be nice to go back once he can and find something we could take home and enjoy. After that we decided to go to Panera Bread for a little something to eat. We actually found something Philip could eat so that was a good thing. Again, it was just nice sitting together and talking. We were amused by the 3 old men sitting next to us talking about the “old days” and recalling stories from elementary school. Silly old men were even gossiping. This made us laugh. 3 hours passed and we went and picked up Sebastian. He was still confident. He said it was challenging but he thought he did well. As long as he did his best, that’s all the matters to me. What’s meant to be will be.
This was a GOOD SATURDAY. The younger Bodkin boys went to bowling. Ben bowled his high score this week — 123!! Great job, Benjamin!! I am grateful for this good day!
