CAT Testing – Day 136
By Renee Bodkin
I have to laugh as I typed out “CAT Testing Day 136” and thought, “Yes, it feels like it’s taking 136 days to complete this test!”
And as much as I’d love to complain about this CAT (California Achievement Test) testing. I opt to take a moment and share my gratitude that we have this opportunity to homeschool our boys. To commit to them and their education. To not rely on anyone else to educate them. WE are educating them. WE are choosing their curriculum. WE decide the pace they move at. WE decide how long they have to sit idle (instead of being bound to a desk quietly repetitively completing work that sometimes needs little repetition for kids like my boys).
So… as much as administering (proctoring) this test has been tedious because there are 10 sections with differing allowed lengths of time for each section with different directions for the boys. A whisper out of Lucian’s mouth throws Ben off and frustrates him so we fortunately have the flexibility to separate them and test them where it best meets their needs.
So even though this test has been tedious and long. I am grateful. And I look forward to seeing how they did. Already I know a few areas we are going to work on. And for that too, I am grateful.
