Dinner at My Door & Friends – Day 42
By Renée Bodkin
Mid-week. Unfortunately, I was not on the ball this week and did no meal planning. It’s been a “fly by the seat of my pants” kinda food week. I must admit, I was spoiled last week thanks to my sisters and friend, Darcy. And God knows, I needed that support. This week has been less stressful. Philip is slowly feeling better — getting out a few times, working at his desk, helping boys with school work and normal day-to-day stuff. Though, I am a bad cook if I don’t meal plan and prepare ahead of time. So today… I had no clue what I was feeding the family. I ran to Wegmans and grabbed some necessities, ingredients for chicken tacos and shh… pizza bites (because if it comes down to it, I can throw those in the oven and the boys won’t starve). Came home to boys who were driving their poor father a bit crazy and a barking dog — grrrr!!
Then… a knocking at the door. Another friend. Neighbor. Scout mom. Lisa was at the door with warm lasagna, garlic bread, and a super yummy salad saying, “I hope you don’t have dinner made yet. I just wanted to do something for you!” Ugh… perfect timing again. I gave her a hug and thanked her. Closed the door and was overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! To all who are praying for us and thinking of us… all who have helped with the boys… brought us meals… called and texted to check on us… all who have spoken kind words. I am so grateful.
Then tonight at Sebastian’s troop meeting, I planned on dropping him off and heading to Dunkin Donuts for a couple hours of quiet blog writing. Instead, I saw a friend I haven’t seen in a while… then another… then another. So I parked my car and spent a couple hours chatting and laughing first with Ellie then with Ursula and Kimberly. Thanks ladies for the chat!! So nice to see friends!
I am grateful.
