For Firsts and Lasts – Day 85
By Renee Bodkin
Today I am grateful for “firsts and lasts” in life. As a mom, I have celebrated and remembered many “firsts” and “lasts” in the lives of my children. And for that I am eternally grateful.
Today was a day of 2 “lasts”. One for Benjamin and one for Sebastian.
Today was Benjamin’s last den meeting as a Cub Scout. Last meeting with me as his den leader. Last meeting with some of the boys he started with 4 plus years ago as a Tiger Cub Scout. He’s moving forward. It’s a bittersweet thing. We celebrate the achievements and for me, I quietly mourn this chapter of his life which is coming to a close.
Today was Sebastian’s last day as a non-teenager. Tomorrow he’ll be 13 years old. Again, I have mixed feelings. Proud of him. Sad to see the innocent lil Sebe fading away as he ventures out into the world, head held high ready to continue his road. Glad that his foundation has been set.
For first and lasts, we should be grateful and look within.
Take time and cherish these times.
Life is fleeting.
It flies by.
Stop and be grateful.
