It comes and goes.  The motivation and inspiration to write and share.

It’s not surprising that I’d find that inspiration now.

I just returned from 5 days at Camp Scouthaven staffing Wood Badge.

Wood Badge  — adult leadership training.  It’s difficult to put into words what Wood Badge is because it’s more than “just training”  or camping or even scouting.  It’s a feeling. It’s being with a bunch of people who have similar goals and values and foundations.  People coming together for a greater good.  People from all walks of life.  Old or young. Rich or poor.  Educated or not.  It doesn’t matter.  The goal is the same.  To help to make Scouting a better program for our youth.  Then, staffing the course — is a whole ‘nother thing.  You work with a team of 15-20 people for almost a year to deliver a program that is like no other.  Volunteers.  We learn material – there is a syllabus that we “have to” deliver.  But, it’s more than that.  We call it Wood Badge Magic.  It’s the little things.  It’s the details. It’s practicing a song or skit so it is presented in a way that the participants walk away going… “Wow!”  It’s meals and prayers and fellowship. It’s kindness and reverence.  It’s heart.  Yes… it’s the heart.  We open our hearts a lil more so we can give some of it.  It’s enabling others to follow our lead.

So… I’m motivated to write today.  Tired — yes.  But mostly motivated and inspired.
