Music – Day 15
Music – Day 15
by Renée Bodkin
Music has always been an integral part of my life.
Today and every day, I am so very grateful for music.
Songs and music take me back in time, calm me and warm my soul. Interestingly, I was never a musician. I wanted to be but it just wasn’t in the cards. That being said, I’m so pleased that my boys have shown interest and aptitude in performing music. I can see (and hear) Sebastian’s fulfillment when he masters a new song on his trumpet. I hear the growth when Lucian – still very new on the keyboard – figures out the end to a song he has learned by ear. Ben’s excitement at the prospect of learning guitar. They appreciate music. I love that they share the joy of listening to music with Philip and I. And they appreciate the musicians, bands, and artists we’ve exposed them to. Music appreciation at a young age is so important, in my humble opinion.
Music for me has been mix tapes, cases of CDs, volunteering with APO at Geneseo for live concerts, my wedding song, songs the boys “loved” when they were “little”, playlists of favorite songs, Christmas music, musicals and live shows at Shea’s and Toronto. It all plays in my head.
Happy songs, thoughtful songs, dancing and laughing songs, emotional songs.
So today, I’m sharing a couple of my favorite songs.
Some current… some from my past.
All just good music.
Some Devil – Dave Matthews Band
Say Something – A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera
What a Good Boy – Barenaked Ladies
I Dreamed a Dream – Les Miserables
Now in the comments… you share a favorite song with me.
