Proud Mom – Day 119
By Renee Bodkin
As should be, I am a proud mom. I am grateful for my children – my boys – for giving me the opportunity to be their Mom!
Each day, I am proud of them. Grateful for them. Blessed to be their Mother.
So maybe it shouldn’t necessarily count as a day of gratitude but anyways… today I was/am a proud mom. This blog, as I’m sure you’ve noticed if you read, is a combination of gratitude and journaling about our lives.
Today Sebastian got home from his Order of the Arrow Ordeal Weekend.
Order of the Arrow is the National Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America. It uses American Indian-styled traditions and ceremonies to bestow recognition on scouts selected by their peers as best exemplifying the ideals of Scouting. It’s focus is on fellowship, camping, and probably most importantly, service.
Sebastian was nominated and elected into the Order of the Arrow (OA) by his fellow Boy Scouts. He went this weekend for his “Ordeal weekend” where he was inducted in as a member. I am so proud of him. His weekend of induction included a vow of silence and much work (service to the scout camp they were at), it was a time of reflection and self-sacrifice. Imagine a 13 year old… and then note how this is worthy of comment. My Sebastian talks. Endlessly. So a day plus of no talking while working his tail off preparing a camp for the summer season… I am proud.
